Morphology of the coffee root system using polyethylene film

In the initial phase of coffee crop, control weeds and water availability for establishment plants is a concern. The polyethylene cover can positively influence chemical biological characteristics soil and, consequently, root system. objective this work was to evaluate morphology system using mulching different widths colors. Coffee planted in December 2016 cultivar Topázio MG-1190. A randomized repetitions design used, with four blocks five treatments, as follows: 1.20-m wide white/black mulching, 1.40-m silver/black silver /black no mulching. Total dry matter per volume, total length volume area specific surface, length, mean diameter were all evaluated. Roots smaller diameters concentrated 0-0.20 m depth layer, while 0.20-0.40 roots larger found. Plants grown showed greater surface roots.
